SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (WAVY) — 3-year-old Zion Williams was found alive and safe and the AMBER Alert has been canceled, according to Virginia State Police. His father, 28-year-old Joshua Christopher Williams has also been located.
Deputies issued an AMBER Alert for Zion Clinton Amir Williams on Thursday morning. They say Joshua assaulted his mother, then took the 3-year-old.
Police believed the child was in extreme danger. Virginia State Police say the two were traveling in a tan 2015 Nissan Altima with the license plate VHN4346.
Capt. Jeffery Pearce, with the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, said in a phone interview with WAVY sister station WRIC that Williams has a violent past.
“Right now, we have active arrest warrants for Joshua for malicious wounding and abduction,” Pearce said. “He severely beat the ex-girlfriend, which is the mother of his child, causing her to be hospitalized for a short time.
“He’s made threats against the child to either harm or kill in the past, which is why we consider this to be a grave situation.”
Police took Joshua into custody on warrants of abduction and felony malicious wounding.
