USNS Peary returning to Norfolk from Arctic exercises

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Sailors aboard the USNS Robert E. Peary will be returning home this afternoon after a three-month deployment to the Arctic region.

According to the Navy, the USNS Peary spent three months in the Norwegian Sea and Arctic Ocean, completing exercises in the Norwegian-led Cold Response 2016.

The exercises involved thousands of troops from countries worldwide, including Great Britain, Germany, Sweden, Canada and Belgium.

During this three-month training, the Peary provided more than 31 replenishments, and transferred more than 1 million gallons of fuel and 34 pallets of critical supplies.

The USNS Peary is expected to pull into Naval Station Norfolk at 1 p.m.
