Missing Chesapeake man found dead in Portsmouth

CHESAPEAKE/PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A Chesapeake man missing since April 4 was found dead in Portsmouth.

Police say Calvin “Beano” Holmes was last seen in the 2500 block of Berkley Avenue as he was leaving for work in Virginia Beach. Family and co-workers reported him missing, because it was unusual for him to not be in contact with them.

Portsmouth police found Holmes’ body on Friday, April 22 in the 1100 block of Horne Avenue.

Cause of death has yet to be determined.

Police say this is an active death investigation.
