NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Two police officers are recovering after a fight with a disorderly man.

Officers were called to an apartment in the 200 block of West Ocean View Avenue shortly after 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

“He just started acting crazy,” said Pamela Fornett, the man’s wife. She identified him as Felix Ofosu.

Neighbors told 10 On Your Side that they called 911 after hearing Ofosu threatening his family from the apartments’ courtyard.

“I saw him yelling and screaming, putting his finger all up in her face,” one neighbor said.

“Just [saying] he was gonna kill people and kill his sister and kill his wife,” said another neighbor. “Then he was talking about angels, [saying] he was an angel.”

As officers arrived on scene, Ofosu took off down West Ocean View Avenue, according to witnesses. As police tried to speak with him, he reportedly became combative and fought with the officers.

Fornett said his behavior was unusual.

“He changed… that wasn’t my husband today.”

As police took Ofosu into custody, one officer was seriously bitten. The other officer suffered minor injuries.

“I begged them ‘please don’t shoot my husband, because that’s not him,’ I begged them,” Fornett said. “So yeah, I’m grateful that the police didn’t.”

Both officers and Ofosu were transported to the hospital.

Ofosu has been charged with malicious wounding, disorderly conduct, strangulation and two counts of assault on a police officer.

He is being held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond.
