NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A Newport News woman is facing charges for allegedly making a false report of an attempted abduction to police Sunday night.
According to Newport News Police, Lilahmae Dalton, 37, told officers that a man tried to abduct her after she went on a blind date with him that night.
Police say she told officers that the man forcibly pulled her away from a restroom, and then physically forced her into his car outside of a restaurant on Warwick Boulevard.
Dalton reported that she was able to get away, flee the area on foot and call police.
Harold Eley with Newport News Police says that an officer found inconsistencies with Dalton’s account. She was arrested Monday night after warrants for false reporting to police were obtained.
Dalton is facing charges of forging public record and falsely summoning or giving false reports to law-enforcement officials.
