CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WIVB) — A new study of childhood cancer survivors finds their overall health is similar to that of middle-aged adults.

Researchers at Harvard looked at survivors who are now 18-29 years old. Only 20 percent were free of chronic conditions.

These survivors often have a higher risk of heart disease, recurring cancer and other chronic health problems related to their previous surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
