NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police have identified 59-year-old Lillian Bond as the victim in a deadly shooting that happened in the 800 block of Trice Terrace, Tuesday morning.
Officers arrived to the scene after 11:30 a.m. and found Bond lying on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Please help us find who did this,” said Bond’s niece Zelda Brown.
A plea from the heartbroken family of Bond. They rushed out to Trice Terrace Tuesday afternoon only to hear terrible news.
“I was just told to come here and I found out when I got here,” Bond’s niece Tiese Bright added.
When they arrived they found the small Norfolk street crowded with officers. They also saw Bond lying dead on the sidewalk outside her home.
“Who could do this in the daylight like this and not even watch her fall,” Brown said. “They did it and left with no remorse.”
“She was the neighborhood mom,” Bright added. “Everyone came here for holiday events and for community cookouts. If you were just hungry and didn’t have anything to eat everything in the neighborhood they knew they could come to her.”
“Just come forward and tell what you saw,” Brown said. “If you think it is something small it can help. Please help us.
