Roanoke man killed in shooting at Hampton Speedy Mart

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A 29-year-old man from Roanoke was killed in a shooting Wednesday night in the parking lot of a Hampton convenience store, according to police.

Rashide Sylvester Fraser has been identified as the victim of the shooting.

Investigators said Fraser was shot multiple times. He and then taken to a McDonald’s parking lot near the intersection of Martha Lee Drive and West Mercury Boulevard.

A friend reportedly drove him to the parking lot in a silver PT Cruiser. A 10 On Your Side crew observed an apparent bullet hole in the vehicle’s windshield.

Someone inside the McDonald’s called 911 around 8:20 p.m., police said.

According to police, Fraser was the passenger in the PT Cruiser that was initially parked at a Speedy Mart off Lassiter Drive. An employee working at the Speedy Mart said he did not see what happened, and declined to comment on the shooting. Neighbors in the area say they did not see anything.

Fraser was taken to a located hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The friend is reportedly cooperating with investigators and is not considered a suspect. At this time, there is no information about a suspect or motive.
