Norview Middle students checked for weapons after receiving tip

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norview Middle School employees and students were checked for weapons Wednesday morning due to a tip.

Police say the tip was non-descriptive and was later determined to be false following an investigation.

After the tip was received, all students and staff coming into the school went through a metal detector and were checked for any kind of a weapon, according to police spokesman Daniel Hudson.

The school was NOT evacuated.
