The fire required a strong defensive attack from crews, according to Suffolk Battalion Chief William Kessinger.

The shop has been declared a total loss. No injuries were reported in the fire.

Suffolk Police have shutdown Wilroy Road between Constance Road and Suburban Drive, and traffic is being detoured to Portsmouth Boulevard at Constance Road and across to Suburban Drive.

City crews will be setting up detour signs in the area for motorists. Officials are anticipating that Wilrory Road will be closed for several hours.
