Man pleads guilty to charges in 2013 murder case

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A man has pleaded guilty to three charges related the 2013 murder of Kristopher Lee, according to Commonwealth’s Attorney Colin Stolle.

Jordan Champion pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and conspiracy.

Champion, 20, and 20-year-old Dau-Shawn Latrez Newton were both indicted for the murder of Lee, who was found shot in October of 2013.

Dau Shawn Newton pleaded guilty, Monday May 2 to conspiracy to commit murder. Newton received a sentence of 10 years in prison with all but six years and five months suspended.

A sentencing hearing for Jordan Champion has been scheduled for Sept. 12.
