Eastern Shore teacher accused of sexually assaulting students found not guilty

ACCOMACK  COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — An Eastern Shore teacher accused of sexual assault was found not guilty of several charges, Worcester County, Maryland court records show.

William Cathell Jr. was facing several charges including third-degree sex offense, sex abuse of a minor, fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault.

A judge found Cathell not guilty of those charges, and dismissed several other similar charges in March. Cathell, 42, was arrested last August for alleged sexual assaults involving minors.

He was accused of inappropriately touching four female students on school grounds over a period of two years.

Cathell has been a teacher at Pokomoke Middle School in Maryland for several years.
