Virginia Natural Gas responds to gas leak in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia Natural Gas was called out to a gas leak in the 1000 block of Melton Court, Saturday early afternoon.

Virginia Beach dispatch says they received the call at 12:38 p.m. Virginia Natural Gas was notified around 12:42 p.m. for a damaged gas pipe line. Virginia Beach Police responded to direct traffic in the area and the fire department also responded for precautionary measures.

The gas line was damaged by a third-party company, according to a spokesperson with Virginia Natural Gas. It is unknown what third-party company damaged the line or how exactly it happened.

At 2 p.m., Virginia Natural Gas stopped the flow of gas and are still in the process of making repairs to the line. No service will be interrupted to customers.
