Tides give up seven in first inning, fall to Braves 11-5

NORFOLK (WAVY) – Tides pitcher Todd Redmond couldn’t have asked for a worse start. After giving up a sacrifice-fly RBI and a 1-0 lead to Gwinnett Braves shortstop Reid Brignac, Redmond allowed three singles, and 3-run home runs by Matt Tuiasosopo and Sean Kazmar respectively. The Braves took a 7-0 lead in the first and cruised to a 11-5 win at a cold Harbor Park.

Redmond gave up nine earned runs on 11 hits in just 3 1/3 innings of work. The Tides and Braves will finish up the weekend series Sunday, with first pitch set for 1:05 pm.
