ALBANY, N.Y. (WAVY) — Authorities are looking for a man who is accused of sexually assaulting a wheelchair-bound victim in her New York apartment in 2012.

The U.S. Marshals Northern District says Michael Hawkins, 29, has ties to Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Oregon, California and Florida. His whereabouts are currently unknown.

Hawkins allegedly raped the victim in her apartment after her family members went to bed on June 10, 2012. Authorities say she was in a wheelchair and mentally damaged.

She reported the incident the next day, and a warrant was then issued for Hawkins’ arrest.

He was charged with first-degree aggravated sex abuse and other crimes due to the victim’s disabilities.

Hawkins also allegedly sexually assaulted the wife of a friend on Nov. 8, 2013 in Rotterdam, New York. He was charged with first-degree rape in that case.

He had remained undetected by authorities until the 2013 incident. It is believed that Hawkins left that area after his crimes.

Authorities say Hawkins has a scar on his face, a burn mark scar on his right arm and a chest tattoo of the Grim Reaper. He is reportedly known to have a temper and to abuse alcohol .

“Predators like Michael Hawkins who prey on helpless victims must be brought to justice,” said U.S. Marshal David McNulty of the Northern District of New York. “We, along with our federal, state and local law enforcement partners, are determined to make sure he’s held accountable, but we need the public’s help.”
