HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – A tote discovered left behind at a Greyhound station in Hampton Thursday morning prompted a call to the bomb squad.

According to Chief Anthony Chittum with the Hampton Fire Department, the call came in at 6:18 a.m. for a suspicious package. The Newport News Bomb Squad and Hampton Police also responded to the scene on West Pembroke Avenue.

A robot was used to check the tote, and determined its contents were safe. It turned out there were just clothes and shoes inside.

The bus station was evacuated temporarily until the situation was deemed safe.
