Images from VDOT cameras and WAVY viewers show one boat in the median and the other boat in a ditch.

The first accident was reported around 11:15 a.m. on I-64 just past the Lee Hall exit. According to State Police dispatchers, a flatbed truck carrying one of the boats overturned on the side of the road. The boat fell from the truck, then four vehicles wrecked behind it. The driver and passenger of the truck went to the hospital with minor injuries.

Less than one-tenth of a mile down the road, at the same time as the first accident, another boat jack-knifed in the median. There were no injuries reported in this accident.

Just after 3 p.m., VDOT reported both scenes were cleared and the road reopened to traffic.

Officials have not released any additional information about the accidents. WAVY has reached out to find out if there is any word yet what caused either crash or if any charges were filed.
