7-Eleven robbed at gunpoint in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Police are looking for suspects that robbed a 7-Eleven at gunpoint in the 11500 block of Jefferson Avenue Tuesday night.

Dispatch received the call at 8:38 p.m. Sergeant Randal Bailey with the Newport News Police Department, confirmed that the suspects came into the store with handguns. One suspect then pointed his gun at the clerk demanding money from register.

Meanwhile, the second suspect took two customers inside the store and forced them to the back of the store at gunpoint. The second suspect robbed both customers of the money they had in their pockets.

Once the first suspect was done robbing the cash register, he hit the clerk on the back of the head with the gun, and took the money the clerk had on him.

The other customers were not injured. The clerk was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say one suspect was wearing a dark green hooded sweatshirt, and the other suspect was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt. Both suspects had on white shoes and had their faces masked.
