Norfolk turns on the switch for “Lights over Granby Street”

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Downtown Norfolk got a little bit of an old-new look Friday night, as Mayor Paul Fraim, and other city officials, turned on the switch for the “Lights over Granby Street”.

The project saw city planners recreate the “arches of light” which illuminated the Downtown area in the 1920’s.

The arches stretch all the way between City Hall and Brambleton Avenue. The illumination was part of the First Fridays festivities.

First Fridays events run from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on, as the name suggests, the first Friday of the month through summer.

The events will include live music, food trucks, merchandise vendors and a beer garden with craft beer, and it all goes down at the Downtown campus of TCC, on the 300 block of Granby Street.
