Video shows arrest of armed robbery suspect in Va. Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A suspect wanted for an armed robbery in Virginia Beach has been arrested.

Darryl Cornelius Delancey, 53, has been identified as the suspect police arrested.

He has been charged with assault and battery, two counts of use of a firearm, two counts of robbery and felony eluding.

Police say he robbed the Wawa in the 5700 block of Northampton Boulevard, just before 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Shortly after, officers attempted to stop the Delancey’s car and a brief chase ensued.

The chase ended in a crash on Shell Road and Independence Boulevard. Delancey crashed into Orama’s Nautical. The owner tells WAVY.com no one was inside the business at the time of the crash.

The company will be closed until repairs are made.

The suspect was taken into custody and no one was injured.

Delancey is being held at Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.
