NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A total of 170 workers at BAE Systems were told Wednesday that they will be let go from the company.
This notice comes days before April 1, when the company was expecting to let go of more than 250 workers.
Company spokesman Karl Johnson tells 10 On Your Side’s Brandi Cummings that BAE will be letting go of 170 workers instead.
In addition, he says 200 employees were told that their notices will be extended to April 30.
Johnson says the layoffs have been reduced because the company has been able to place some employees on temporary assignments on the West Coast.
