CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A man was seriously injured early Wednesday after his car crashed into the back of parked delivery truck on Route 58 in Chesapeake.

Det. Dorienne Boykin with Chesapeake Police says that around 12:10 a.m. a 48-year-old man crashed his car into the back of a Pepsi delivery truck that was legally parked at a Kangaroo gas station at the intersection of Route 58 and Biscoe Street.

Medics took the man to a local hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation, but police believe alcohol may be a factor.

The driver of the delivery truck was not injured.
