32 indicted on drug charges in Eastern Shore

ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office and the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office have indicted 32 suspects on drug charges.

The year-long investigation focused on the illegal sale of narcotics including prescription narcotics, cocaine, heroin and crack cocaine.

In February, fifteen individuals were indicted in Accomack County. One individual is still and large in relation to these charges. Byron “Beef” Mears of Accomack County is wanted for distribution of a schedule II narcotic.

In March, 17 individuals were indicted in Northampton County. The Sheriff’s Office released mug shots of individuals who were indicted.

Following the release of this information, a Drug Task Force agent confirmed that Larry Goffney and Jobias Kellam have been picked up by law enforcement.

Law enforcement from the Eastern Shore Drug Task Force, Accomack and Northampton Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police, Drug Enforcement Section, conducted a mass arrest on St Patrick’s Day dubbed “Operation Lucky Charm”.

Fourteen of the individuals were taken into custody without incident.

Law enforcement were still attempting to locate two individuals. Demonne Custis of Cape Charles and Lawrence Bright of Cheriton.
