Virginia Zoo schedules events for elephants’ departure

The farewell activities are set to begin March 28.

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Zoo in Norfolk is asking the public to participate in a week farewell activities for Cita and Lisa, the elephants currently at the zoo.

Zoo officials announced the departure of Cita and Lisa to Zoo Miami last November. The elephants are expected to be moved later this spring.

The Virginia Zoo has scheduled an entire week of activities centered the elephants’ departure.  The activities will include the signing of banner that will travel with the elephants to Miami.

Zoo staff will also have daily chats set up in front for the elephant preserve in the Africa-Okavango Delta exhibit.
