Police search for suspect who shot two teens at a party

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Police are looking for a suspect who shot two teenagers during a fight at a party, critically injuring one.

Officers responded to a call about a shooting in the 600 block of Hamilton Drive at 2:25 a.m. Saturday, according to a spokesperson for the Newport News Police Department.

They found a 17-year-old who had been shot in the back, and grazed by a bullet in his left thigh. First responders rushed him to the hospital, where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

An 18-year-old woman from Hampton had been shot in the left thigh. She was also taken to the hospital, but is expected to survive.

Investigators say both victims were at a party when a fight started, and a man starting shooting.

Police have not identified or arrested the suspect.
