WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — A James City man was arrested and charged after he allegedly stole three beers from a restaurant on York Street Monday night.
Jeffery Allan Kerr, 49, was taken to Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, and has been charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license, and defrauding an inn keeper.
According to police, a man ordered three beers from the restaurant, drank them and left without paying. Restaurant management told officers the man — later identified as Kerr — appeared to be intoxicated.
They told police that Kerr left in a silver Ford SUV heading toward Colonial Williamsburg, and provided officers a tag for the car.
An officer found the car parked at another restaurant in 300 block of Richmond Road later that night, and detained a man leaving the restaurant who matched the description of Kerr.
Officers determined that Kerr was intoxicated, had driven to the second restaurant and discovered that his privilege to drive in the Commonwealth was suspended.
