School bus crashes near new Chesapeake Krispy Kreme

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A school bus with about 15 children aboard crashed in Chesapeake, Tuesday morning.

Police said, around 10 a.m., the bus driver was attempting to go around a slow-moving vehicle near Battlefield Boulevard and Walmart Way, when the bus hit the rear bumper of the car.

It is believed traffic was backed up in the area due to the grand opening of a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts store on Battlefield Boulevard Tuesday.

None of the students or bus driver were injured. However, the driver of the car complained of neck pain and was taken to a local hospital, said police.

No one was charged.
