NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Police arrested a man on two outstanding warrants after he was released from the hospital, where he was being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg.
The shooting happened around 10:50 p.m. Saturday in the 11000 block of Jefferson Avenue, according to a spokesperson for the Newport News Police Department.
First responders found 18-year-old Hunter Horton of Carrollton with a gunshot wound in his left calf, and took him to the hospital.
When Horton was released from the hospital Sunday morning, officers arrested him on charges of assault and battery on a family member and violation of a protective order.
Police have not said who shot Horton, or whether they’re looking for any suspects.
