Entrapment reported in accident near Newport News Shipbuilding

Fire officials say traffic on Huntington heading into the shipyard will be delayed.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News Fire crews are working an accident that has reportedly trapped people Wednesday morning.

The accident was reported at 49th Street and Huntington Avenue, near Newport News Shipbuilding. Newport News Fire tweeted about the accident around 6:40 a.m.

Fire officials say traffic on Huntington Avenue heading into the shipyard will be delayed.

Newport News Bat. Chief J. Douglas Carper told WAVY.com he was not aware of any serious injuries in the accident. He says the entrapment could be a simple door pop.

There is no word what may have caused the accident or how many vehicles may have been involved.
