Stabbing victim walks into Newport News hospital

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News police are investigating an early morning stabbing that reportedly happened at a Plaza Azteca on Jefferson Avenue.

According to police, a 23-year-old man suffering from stab wounds walked into a local hospital around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers had been dispatched to the Plaza Azteca for a call about a man who was armed with a knife.

A man on the scene told the officers that, when he arrived at the restaurant, he found one side of a door splattered with blood.

While they were investigating the scene, officers received word of the victim from an area hospital.

The man suffered non life-threatening lacerations on his shoulder and back, police say.

He was also reportedly intoxicated and unable to provide officers with any information about the suspect.
