Crews respond to hazmat call in Hampton

WAVY ReportIt

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Police and fire crews in Hampton were dispatched to the scene of a hazmat situation on Cynthia Drive Wednesday morning.

Police initially responded to the 100 block at 1:45 a.m. for a dispute call for service. When officers arrived, they discovered an unknown substance outside the home, in a trash can. That’s when the Hazmat team was called. A neighbor told WAVY’s Rico Bush she saw crews remove items and materials from that trash can. The substance is being tested, according to fire officials.

Police says no arrests were made and an investigation is ongoing.
