(WAVY) — Allen Iverson, one of the most dynamic athletes to come out of Hampton Roads, has been named a finalist for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
Before he was an NBA MVP, Iverson was a two-sport star at Bethel High School in Hampton. He helped lead the Bruins to state championships in football and basketball.
In this installment of the Sportswrap Vault, we go back to 1993 for a feature story on Iverson and his teammate Tony Rutland (Wake Forest). There is also a highlight reel of some of his spectacular plays on the court including an encounter with another No. 1 NBA draft pick, Joe Smith.
