Teen robbed at gunpoint in Newport News

Happened Monday on Alan Drive.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News Police are looking into the reported robbery of a 16-year-old boy near Alan Drive.

According to police, the teenager and two friends were walking through a shortcut near the 100 block of Alan Drive Monday night, when a man walking in front of them turned around.

The man allegedly pulled out a handgun and demanded the teen’s phone. The teen’s two friends both ran as soon as they saw the gun.

Police say the man also demanded the victim’s jacket before leaving the scene on foot.

The suspect was reportedly wearing a black beanie, black hoody, red Columbia jacket, grey sweatpants and Nike star/galaxy patterned shoes.
