NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Crews have fixed a 60-year-old cast iron pipe on Tidewater Drive after working all day Saturday to make the repairs.
Harry Kenyon, a utilities spokesman, tells WAVY.com a 16-inch water line cracked Saturday around 5 a.m. near the intersection of Tidewater Drive and East Chester Street. As of 7 p.m., crews were wrapping up work on the problem spot.
Kenyon says a paving crew will be out at the intersection Sunday to repair the road.
Tidewater Drive was closed in both directions at from Twilley Street to East Chester Street most of the day Saturday. The city says one lane will likely be closed Sunday as crews finish their work.
Neighbors reported low water pressure early Saturday morning, but they say the pressure has since returned to normal.
Kenyon says the break was first reported just hours after a separate break on Shore Drive.
