Police looking for serial ABC store thief and accomplice

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Local police are looking to bottle up two men they say continue to steal from ABC stores. Detectives believe they have hit more than a dozen times.

“When they [the ABC store] started reviewing footage they noticed it is the same male,” said Portsmouth Detective Misty Holley.

Police have their sights on the man they call the “main” suspect and another they say is his sidekick.

Over the past couple weeks– the suspect has hit stores in Portsmouth.

“One of the things that struck us is this same man came in wearing the same type of hat and same jacket,” Holley added.

Jan. 22 and 23, the suspect visited the store on George Washington Highway. He came in when the store was open and tucked bottles of Ciroc Vodka and Hennessy in his pants.

He then went back after closing Jan. 24 and used a hammer to break out the glass door. He along with an accomplice, took 20 bottles worth almost a $1000.

Jan. 5, the store on London Boulevard was hit. This time the men pulled up in a Honda Accord. They went into the store and one suspect put the bottle up his shirt as the other distracted the clerk.

“What we want to do is bring them in and question them, but we also want to help the ABC store solve all these crimes,” Holley added.
