UPDATE: Arrests made in Accomack County homicide investigation

ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office have made arrests in the shooting death of 22-year-old Robert Franklin Baytops.

Deputies have 24-year-old Tavone Tyrell Cropper and 20-year-old Jahad Arell Triggs in custody in connection with the homicide.

Cropper and Triggs are both being charged with first degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Triggs was arrested February 11 and Cropper on February 12. Both are being held at the Accomack County Jail on no bond.

The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a call around midnight of Feb. 4 about a shooting at a home on Raymond Townsend Lane in Horntown.

Deputies arrived on the scene and found Robert Franklin Baytops suffering from a gunshot wound.

Baytops was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
