NN home condemned after car crashes into it; driver arrested, charged

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A home along Chestnut Avenue has been condemned after a car crashed into it early Thursday morning.

Police arrested and charged 22-year-old Joshua Ryan Killingsworth in connection with the crash.

The Newport News Fire Department tweeted about the accident around 5:40 a.m. The driver reportedly lost control of his pickup truck as he was exiting Interstate 664 around 2 a.m.

According to Police Spokesman Lou Thurston, the crash report states that the man’s pickup crossed a median on Chestnut Avenue and crashed into the home in the 4000 block of Chestnut.

Killingsworth is facing one count of driving while intoxicated.

Officials say no one was injured in the accident.
