Firefighters battle blaze at residence in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Emergency crews battled a residential fire Friday night in the 6000 block of Glenoak Drive.

Upon arrival firefighters found a fire in the wall near an electrical panel. Power was cut off to the residence, and the fire was then extinguished. The blaze took around 30 minutes to put out.

There were no injuries to firefighters were reported.

Five people were home at the time and were medically evaluated, but refused to go to the hospital. The residence did not have working smoke detectors.

The five have been displaced and are staying with family in the area.

The cause of the fire under investigation at this time.
