Goat thieves on the loose in central Virginia

STAFFORD, Va. (AP) — The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office says somebody in the area has been stealing goats.

The office says in a news release that animal control officers responded Saturday morning to a call from a resident who said three goats had been stolen from a shelter area at the rear of a home.

A few hours later, animal control officers received another call about a similar theft. This time, the resident reported five goats had been stolen from a barn.

The sheriff’s office says both thefts were believed to have occurred between 4 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday.
