Driver from Suffolk SUV crash dies from injuries

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man who was thrown from his SUV during an accident has died, Suffolk city officials say.

The 58-year-old driver, Charlie James Bell, succumbed to life-threatening injuries he suffered in the crash on Dec. 27, which happened on Route 58 near the near the Virginia Department of Transportation Weigh Station.

Officials say the driver’s Nissan Xterra left the road and hit a jersey wall, causing the man to be ejected from the car. He was transported Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

The accident remains under investigation.
