WASHINGTON, D.C. (WAVY) — The retailer Pier 1 Imports is recalling thousands of swinging chairs because of a fall hazard, according the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recall concerns numerous styles of the Swingasan-brand chair that Pier 1 produces. They are being recalled due to suspension hardware on the chairs or chair stands that can break while being used.

The recall will affect about 260,000 chairs sold in the United States, and an additional 16,000 sold in Canada.

The commission has received 101 reports of incidences with the chairs, including 31 total injuries, so far.

Consumers should immediately stop using the chairs and stands and contact Pier 1 Imports for a free repair kit or return the chair and stand to a Pier 1 Imports store.
