NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Two Navy F/A-18’s had to make an emergency at Norfolk International Airport (ORF) Wednesday afternoon.

The jets were on their way to Naval Station Oceana, and were running low on fuel. When Oceana’s runaway was not available, the pilots declared an emergency and landed at ORF. They also attempted to land at Naval Station Norfolk, but the runway was also unavailable at the time.

Because of ORF emergency protocols, the two were able to land safely. After landing, the jets were serviced and took off shortly after 2:30 p.m.

The emergency caused no interruption to operations at ORF.
