INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Firefighters say a woman is expected to be OK after a crash left her trapped in her car for more than an hour Friday morning.
It happened around midnight along Interstate 74 near Eagle Creek on the city’s west side.
Wayne Township firefighters say the woman somehow drove over the guardrail and down 20-feet into a wooded embankment. A semi driver passing by saw the car’s headlights through the trees and called 911.
Officials say the woman’s legs were trapped. It took about an hour for crews to get her out of the vehicle. Once she was freed from the car, she hugged one of the firefighters who helped save her.
The woman was transported to an Indianapolis hospital in stable condition.
It’s unclear exactly what led up to the crash.
