Surveillance video of arson at Goodwill store released

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Beach Fire Department is investigating a fire that occurred at a Goodwill Store on the 600 block of Lynnhaven Road on November 29 at around 1:30 a.m.

Surveillance cameras showed that two men walked across the back of the Goodwill Store parking lot shortly before the fire started and that one of the suspects went in another direction. The suspect had walked to a pile of donated goods that were left unattended at the back of the building and the video showed that he leaned over the items and set them on fire.

The man then left the area and rejoined the other suspect. Both men were seen heading northwest toward Sabre Street and continued north on Lynnhaven Road.

The fire damaged the rear of the building, the back door, an awning, and the donated items.

If you have any information that might help investigators identify the two individuals shown in the surveillance video please contact the Virginia Beach Fire Prevention Bureau at 757-385-4248.
