Va. Beach conducting virtual town hall on cable service

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The City of Virginia Beach is looking to hear from residents about the local cable providers.

The franchise agreements for both Verizon and Cox Communications are expiring in 2016 — and the two companies are asking the city to renew their agreements.

Starting today, Virginia Beach will be gathering public opinion on Verizon and Cox until Jan. 24.

According to the current agreement, cable companies are required to meet several customer service standards — such as telephone response time and service outages.
