Undefeated at home, ODU in search of first road victory

NORFOLK (WAVY) — After going through a four-game losing streak earlier in the season, Old Dominion has now won four consecutive games as it begins the Conference USA portion of the schedule.

During ODU’s losing streak, sophomore forward Brandan Stith was sidelined with a sprained knee. Stith has returned and he’s averaging 8 points and 8 rebounds a game.

“The knee feels good,” Stith said. “It’s like it never happened.”

Coach Jeff Jones, now in his third year, has tinkered with the line up. Trey Freeman remains a starter, but Aaron Bacote now comes off the bench.

“With Aaron now out of the starting line-up, when we start the game Trey’s the main option,” Jones said. “He’s (Freeman) coming out with a very aggressive mind set and then when Aaron comes into the game off the bench he’s being very aggressive.”

ODU defeated Charlotte on Saturday to win its conference opener, stretching its home winning streak to 32 games. Now the Monarchs get ready for their first conference road trip of the season beginning Thursday at Louisiana Tech which has won 39 in-a-row at home.

“More important than ending their winning streak, getting a road win in conference USA is huge,” Jones said.

Tomorrow’s game will be broadcast on the CBS Sports Network.
