VIRGINIA BEACH–(WAVY) Embattled Ocean Lakes football coach Chris Scott who led the Dolphins to the state 6-A state championship has been hired as the head football coach of Bishop Sullivan Catholic school in Virginia Beach. Scott, who was suspended twice this past season for violating public school recruiting rules won’t have that problem in the private school sector.
Bishop Sullivan added several public school stars last season, most notably twins Breyon and Brandon Gaddy who transferred from Norfolk’s Booker T. Washington high school. Breyon Gaddy, a 6-4 320 pound upcoming senior is one of top defensive tackles in the nation. Sources also confirm that Ocean Lakes running back Khalan Laborn, the state’s offensive player of the year will also apply to Sullivan to join his former coach.
In addition, Coach Scott hopes that most of his assistant coaches from Ocean Lakes will join him at Bishop Sullivan including his top assistant Chris Ramey who filled in for Scott during his suspensions last fall.
“I just met with Father Dan (Beeman), Scott told me this afternoon. I am excited about this new opportunity and believe we can take Bishop Sullivan from a state powerhouse to a nationally competitive team. There are plans to start a new Catholic School League in the next few years, which would include schools as far away as DeMatha in the Washington, DC area. Attendance wise we would be the smallest school in that league, but we are up for the challenge.”
