HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) — Several Macy’s stores will be closing throughout Hampton Roads.

The company is closing the stores at Military Circle Mall in Norfolk, Chesapeake Square Mall in Chesapeake, and the Macy’s at Peninsula Town Center in Hampton.

The closings will affect more than 250 employees. The stores are expected to close in early Spring 2016.

A news release on the Macy’s website says the closings are due to poor sales last year.

In total the company is closing 40 stores across the country.
