Counting Kindness with Jen Lewis

Portsmouth, Va. (WAVY) – A Virginia Beach 5th grade math teacher taught her class a life lesson about community service they will never forget. Stephanie Wyman guided 44 Woodstock Elementary students through a project to help the homeless served by the Lighthouse Center. They raised $3000 to make hygiene kits. The class purchased necessities like soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste and deodorant in order to fill backpacks. Those backpacks were delivered to the Lighthouse Center. The students also gave the center a check for $1200. Ms. Wyman taught her class practical math applications while helping them understand the issue of homelessness in Hampton Roads.
