Man wanted in Christmas Eve shooting arrested

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Detectives with the Portsmouth Police Department have confirmed they have arrested a man accused of a shooting on Christmas Eve.

Police say Kennyell Gatling shot a man in the torso on December 24 around 7:39 p.m. It happened in the 900 block of Randolph Street.

The victim was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries.

Gatling turned himself in to police on Jan. 4.

Gatling has active warrants on file for malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is known to frequent the Prentis Park and Brighton areas.
